The Waaia community is united in grief following the tragic passing of Amy Lynette Meyland, who died in a heartbreaking accident on 1 December 2025. At just 39 years old, Amy leaves behind a legacy defined by love, generosity, and devotion to her family and community.
Born on 10 July 1986, Amy lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and unwavering commitment to those she cherished most. Amy was the deeply loved and adored wife of Greg, and the dedicated mother of their four children — Javier, Porter, Ava, and Nixon.
To her family, she was the heart of their home: nurturing, patient, and endlessly loving. Her parents, Ruth and Craig, raised a daughter who embodied kindness in every chapter of her life. Amy also shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings, Kelly, Emma, and Matthew, who remember her as a loyal, caring, and supportive sister.
Her sudden passing has left a profound sadness across Waaia, where Amy was known not only as a devoted mother but also as an active and beloved member of the community. She was admired for her warmth, her positivity, and her ability to make anyone feel welcome. Many recall her radiant smile and her habit of putting others before herself — a reflection of her generous nature.

A service to celebrate Amy’s life will be held at the Waaia Football Club rooms, 5 Waaia–Bearii Road, Waaia, on Friday, 12 December 2025, at 11:00am, followed by burial at Numurkah Lawn Cemetery. Amy’s memory will forever remain a guiding light for all who loved her.
